MILL HILL ON SOCIAL MEDIA 2020

Social media has attracted attention in the election and with bitter wars of words in the Brexit debate.

However, it is also a great place for networking.  If you avoid the political accounts and only follow those that don't do politics.

On Facebook Mill Hill Families is the largest local group. It is run by business networking experts Laurel Leaf. Ideal place to hang out. The new Mill Hill Guide page already has over 100 followers and expects to grow rapidly as an information source.

On Instagram we are pleased to say our two accounts are the biggest with around 1500 followers.  Every day we share the latest local stories and there is zero political or moaning.   These accounts are probably the best.

On twitter the biggest account is @newslondonnw7 with over 6,000 followers. This account provide local news for NW7 and North /Central London. It features arts and sports.

The local political accounts on twitter/Blogslike @barneteye @insidemillhill who represent the Liberal Democrats and the political discussion group @millhilllife keep up a lively debate on political issues effecting Barnet. Treat their claims with a sceptical approach like with all politicians. They are fun to read when they get into sanctimonious gear!

However,  when we started in 2010 this site was the only one dedicated to our small area.  Social media has been a great way to connect more people. Mill Hillians tend to gravitate to two groups on Social media. The Moaners / Better in our Day types who see the past as a glorious thing and all modern development as evil and those who embrace change especially technological and have a more welcome and open view about the growth of our area.

We are firmly in the second group. We like social media as a force for good and unity. So why not follow some of these accounts and engage in social discourse.
