Back in May 2010 when this blog started there was not a single blog dedicated to Mill Hill. Not a a single social media account either. In fact until Mill Hill families launched on Fb in 2015 we were the only web presence for Mill Hill.
Set up as a Barnet blog but totally non political unlike the five Barnet Bloggers who were Labour activists complaining about the Tory plans for an outsourced set of services.
10 years on the Mill Hill Families account has become a business hub with 8 thousand members in just 4 years. We also branched out into setting up our Instagram and Twitter accounts which have nearly 15 thousand followers. In addition the local Barnet Blogger left Labour and with other activists set up their own group of web accounts for the Lib Dems including the Better Mill Hill and Litter Picker group in 2018 to try and influence the elections.
We have kept out of the bitter local politics for the whole 10 years preferring to be positive about the area's shops, events, restaurants and markets. By doing this we get over 3 million annual views across our sites. We have helped local businesses and event organisers sell out their launches and concerts etc and have been the main port of call for the national media when they have needed information or photographs about the area.
We support every organisation and business. We are proud to have helped the Preservation Society, the neighborhood forum, the good neighbours, the musical theatre group, the lpa choir, the Hub, and the rugby club as well as almost every shop and restaurant in our 10 years. Our Friday Feature in 2016 brought the community together in a new way and led to a huge social media growth in the area.
We see a great 2020 and decade ahead for the area. We welcome the growth in housing so that more people can be part of the Mill Hill story. Our mission remains positive. Thank you for following us and in 2010 we said everyone has a choice....be positive or moan. We choose the former. Follow us on insta or twitter and read our work for Mill Hill Guide, Mill Hill Today, Evening Standard, Metro, and many more. We are the positive voice for Mill Hill ❤️πΆππΌ✨π₯ Thank you to all those in the area who work so hard to deliver services and improve our lives yet are totally anonymous or relatively unknown. Our team is just that. We don't release the names of our contributors and writers because they are many and enjoy helping. If you want to help us get in touch and message us on social media. You will be very welcome.
