STEP FREE ACCESS WINS £8.5MILLION GRANT FOR MILL HILL BROADWAY STATION

We are very excited to announce that Mill Hill Broadway station is the recipient of £8.5 million to create step free access. The campaign team of local MP Matthew Offord and John Gillett from The Residents Association /Neighbourhood Forum attended a parliamentary hearing along with Charles Sherrard a local QC whose mother in law sadly died at the station late last year. They produced a superb case which our MP delivered in his speech which claimed the ultimate prize of £8.5 million. The three of them and their many supporters including Andrew Dismore our London Assembly Member, members of the Residents Association  Mill Hill Today, Mill Hill Guide, Neighbourhood Forum are to be congratulated on this fine achievement. The station desperately needs attention. We hope that a redevelopment to give the area a proper parking facility for traders and shoppers, a hotel, a cinema, and a pub /cafe venue will now be created on the car park site as well. We first suggested this on this blog back in 2010. We have supported this idea even before the Residents and the MP started their campaign. We salute them for putting in the hard work. We will bring you details of this massive boost for local traders and residents. Improving access and facilities with the new Thameslink service will increase the attractiveness of our wonderful town centre.
