The year started with a January dominated by heavy snow and travel chaos. The year ended with a December of heavy snow and travel chaos !
In between many of the empty shops on the Broadway from 2008 and 2009 finally found new businesses and there seemed to be busier. June and July saw the cafe culture come of age on the Broadway with most cafes adopting outside seating.
Locally the Conservatives won the council elections. There was a Classical Music Festival held at St Michael's in the summer. The year in general was pretty quiet for major events with the large snow storms being the abiding memory of the year leaving us with a "white" Christmas for the first time I can remember in Mill Hill.
2011 beckons and hopefully will be much better though we need to be on our guard against cuts which could effect our library and our young peoples' futures. This blog is an attempt at trying to create community in the area along with the other excellent blogs which are regularly updated and you can read to the left of this article.
We salute the Bloggers of Barnet and Mill Hill and wish them and their readers a wonderful 2011 and to all residents, workers and visitors to Mill Hill. We look forward to an exciting year ahead.
